Wednesday, October 29, 2025

The Technical Committee on the amendment of the Constitution is currently conducting public consultations in Eastern Province to gather citizen input.

The sessions, held in Chipata, have seen participation from a diverse range of residents. Members of the public attended to present their submissions directly to the Committee, which is tasked with reviewing the nation's supreme law.

Notable among those that made submission was a freedom fighter, Mr. Anderson Agripa Zulu, who offered his perspectives on the proposed changes. His contributions were received by the Committee as part of the broader public engagement process. Others who made submissions were women and the youth, among others.

The Technical Committee's mandate during these sessions is primarily to listen and record the views presented by the people. The process is designed to ensure that the Constitution reflects the will of the people, arising from direct citizen feedback.

This exercise in Eastern Province is part of a nationwide effort to ensure the constitutional amendment process is inclusive and participatory.
