Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary Mathews Chilekwa says the Constitutional Amendment process is key in addressing gaps existing in the current constitution.
Rev. Chilekwa says from the time President Hakainde Hichilema took office, he has been clear on the need to have a Constitution that addresses lacunas in the current constitution.
The Permanent Secretary made the remarks yesterday, when the Technical Committee on Constitutional Amendments paid a courtesy call on him at his office.
Rev Chilekwa said all key stakeholders such as traditional leaders, the Church, Non-governmental Organisations and members of the public, are ready to make submissions to the Committee, during its sittings in the province.
And Technical Committee on Constitutional Amendments Chairperson, Retired Supreme Court Judge, Christopher Mushabati, says the Committee is looking forward to have a successful sittings in Province.
Justice Mushabati pointed out that so far, the Committee has received overwhelming support from members of the public in other provinces, with scores of them coming forward to make submissions.
